The Keyhole of St Monica

posted in: St Monica

The Keyhole is a traditional garden from Lesotho.

It was therefore logical that the garden of St Monica, located in Leribe (Lesotho) should also host one. This vegetable garden is made up on its periphery of stones found on the land. As Lesotho is a mountainous country, agricultural land is full of them and it is a way to reuse the stones released during land preparation. The central composter is made with boards arranged vertically with a space to facilitate the passage of earthworms and nutrients on the cultivated part around.
