Creation of a mandala garden at St Paul’s school: the Palesa garden.

In order to educate deaf and hard of hearing children at St Paul’s school about gardening, we asked the five gardeners in training to make a flower-shaped mandala garden and involve children in its maintenance.

The mandala is composed of 8 raised-beds in the shape of petals made with the technique of “lasagna”. Soon these petals will welcome plants that the children have previously sown in pots. For the more curious, “Palesa” means flower in Sotho, the official language of Lesotho.
