In Paris, Roosboom, Rufisque, Leribe and Malanti, children are invited to become real little gardeners in the educational vegetable gardens that welcome them.
They enthusiastically participate in the different stages of the garden’s life cycle: from sowing seeds, where they learn the patience required to see a seed germinate, to harvesting, a moment of pride when everyone can taste the fruits of their labour.
Between these two stages, there are many different activities: weeding, watering, transplanting, taking cuttings, enriching the compost… These simple tasks give them a practical understanding of how a garden works and teach them to respect natural cycles.
But the sessions in the vegetable garden are not limited to maintenance: they are also an opportunity for fun and educational activities. The children observe the diversity of flowers and fruits, marvel at the insects that visit the garden, and sometimes take part in group games and treasure hunts to discover the garden’s hidden treasures. These moments of play reinforce their curiosity and enjoyment of learning in the great outdoors.
Each session is therefore a gateway to biodiversity, reconnecting young children with nature.
